Police Arrest Suspect in Martin Road Home Invasion
St Clair Shores Police arraigned the perpetrator of a Home Invasion that took place on 1-17-08 at 20516 Martin Road. The suspect entered the occupied home wearing white latex gloves demanding money and threatening to kill the homeowner. The homeowner’s wife and small children fled to the back bedroom, climber out a window and ran to a neighbor’s house. A fight ensued between the suspect and the homeowner. The suspect struck the homeowner in the head with a metal flashlight several times during the struggle. The homeowner was able to take the flashlight away and then struck the suspect several times in the face and head area. The suspect then fled the home and escaped in a red pickup truck. Police were able to obtain blood from the suspect that was left at the scene. DNA evidence from the blood led to the identification of the suspect and the suspect was arraigned on charges of Home Invasion I, Assault to do Great Bodily Harm and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Bond was set at $100,000. The suspect was out on Parole for similar offences when he was involved in the Home Invasion and is currently in the county jail awaiting a preliminary exam.
