Counterfeit Tax Refund Checks

In the last few days, there have been several arrests made for attempting to cash counterfeit checks at local party stores. The fraudulent checks are “Jackson Hewitt” income tax refund checks. They look very authentic and have a confirmation phone number on the front. This number is also part of the scam and will lead you to a phone tree that will confirm the check as being valid.  This scam has also occurred in surrounding cities.
